I’ve gotten pretty muddy on many occasions – you might say I’m a bit of a mud connoisseur. I’ve gotten muddy at work (more times than I care to admit)… At play… And while running… Twice… But the third time’s … Continue reading
This Saturday, I did something unlike anything I’ve ever done before, or ever thought I would even have to desire to do, much less actually do. Lifetime Fitness offers its clients what they call Alpha Training and the Alpha Showdown … Continue reading
Climbing is one of my favorite things to do, but I’ll be the first to admit that I had a difficult time starting out. Believe it or not, I’m actually terrified of heights. I went climbing for the first time … Continue reading
Here, relive my awesome Memorial Day weekend in photos. It’ll help budge you over those Hump Day blues, I promise. See, isn’t that better?
I can run 20 miles straight without walking a single step. Rock. On. I need a new sports bra, and pronto. Running has removed whatever filter I had left. I will talk unabashedly about poop, snot, and chafing where the … Continue reading
“They” always say that you can’t just run to be a good runner. I had fair warning, I really did. Unfortunately, I’ve always been the kind of girl who has to make her own mistakes. It’s been 6 weeks since … Continue reading

My husband loves to go see movies in the theater.
I, on the other hand, do not.
I’m also pretty picky about my movies. That’s not to say I have good taste in them – quite the contrary, in fact. I have horrible taste in movies. Awful. If it’s hilarious, a chick flick, Harry Potter, a kids movie, and environmental or food documentary, or has adorable animals in it, I like it. End of story for the most part.
My husband, on the other hand, will see any movie, any time, any where. Chick flicks, action movies, dramas, comedies, kids movies. If he could see every movie ever released in the theaters, he would.
But the problem with this, is that I’m not a big fan of seeing movies in the theater. I’d much rather save my money, wait patiently until it comes out on DVD and snuggle up under blankets with my fur-dogger, eating popcorn that did NOT cost me $6.75, and the pause button at the ready for bathroom breaks.
You can see now this might cause a problem. My husband doesn’t necessary mind going to movies by himself, but obviously prefers company. I’m trying to be better about going to see movies with him -it’s really not that much ask, and since he’ll watch anything, I usually get to pick.
So, tonight we went to the movies… and he picked. Real Steel it was.
And, as fate would have it, I loved it. Every single minute, but especially the first few that played this song…
Beautiful. You better believe I bought it on iTunes the minute we got home.
Sidenote: I totally cried at the end of Real Steel. Not even kidding.
If some of you know me personally, you might know that I love (Love!) blogging. You might also know that i suck (Suck!) at keeping up with a blog. I’e probably started at least 10 blogs over the years, but once I finish deciding on an oh-so-clever name, picking the header image, perusing hundreds of blogs for “inspiration,” and editing the HTML to no end just to get that perfect “look,” my fun is over. So goes the blogging life of Janene. In fact, if I’m being completely honest, this is my third WordPress blog, after switching to Blogger and back again.
Hi, I’m Janene, and a blogaholic.
But I’m getting just a wee bit off topic here. Part of the reason the blogs never stick is that I just can’t seem to come up with an angle that makes it coherent and enjoyable for me. Let’s be honest, I’m a pretty random person, and while that randomness translates in person to a beautifully complex and endearing woman, I just don’t think it translates quite that well in blog-land. Thus, the downfall of my first dozen or so blogs.
But this blog, my friends, well! This blog does not have that fatal flaw. No sirree, direction and cohesion abound! I’ll spare you the flashes of random brilliance that have been bouncing around this noggin (for now, anyway – after all, I gotta save some material for future posts!). Suffice it to say, that this is all about a journey to reclaim a more youthful demeanor, energy, and hope through the discovery of new ways that get my heart and spirit a-pumping.
Stay tuned for stories and pictures about this new adventure, my sordid past (oh la la!), and my plans for the future. Come along for the ride – it’s going to be a good one.
